Workout Timer App Review

Workout Timer App ReviewMy exercise routine focus on the principle MED (Minimum Effective Dose). Which means you do the most efficient workout in the least amount of time. All MED exercise have one thing in common, and that is a variation of High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) or TABATA Training. What is a HIIT? It a series of exercise that you perform with low to high intensity with minimum rest in between each exercise.

Example of HIIT Training:

Push up X 30sec

Rest for 10sec

Squat X 30sec

Rest For 10sec

Jumping Jacks X 30sec

Rest for 10sec

Plank X 30sec

Rest for 10sec

Repeat as many rounds as necessary.

What is a TABATA Training? It one of the most popular forms of high intensity training that consist of 8 rounds of ultra-high intensity exercise in a specific 20sec on, 10sec off interval.

Using the example above it would look like this:

Push up X 20sec

Rest for 10sec

Squat X 20sec

Rest For 10sec

Jumping Jacks X 20sec

Rest for 10sec

Plank X 20sec

Rest for 10sec

Repeat for 8 rounds

The biggest difference between the 2, TABATA requires you to go all out for 8 rounds for maximum effort. If you are new, don’t try to attempt it.

It great if you have a great coach or a buddy to help you with the timing, but what if you are alone?

Today I am introducing an workout timer app that I have been using for my HIIT training. The apps name is Workout Timer.  Created by Alexander Senin and it relative cheap. It has a free version but comes with annoying ads, but with USD1.99 you can get rids of those ads.

It also offers Apple Watch App if you do have an apple watch, which I don’t, the phone version is still fine. The app is so simple to use, and straight forward.  Just set and play, and your ready to go.

It also has other timer for different workout as well. I will go through each of the features as well.

1.The TABATA Workout Timer. You have the flexibility to set the rounds, the duration of the workout and rest time. In between set there is a notification letting you know your set is done. Is pretty much handy, you can just focus on your workout and not worry to about resetting it. Everything is done automatically which helps you focus on your next set. I use this time for both my TABATA training routines and my HIIT training routines.

2.The TABATA Round. I find this is useful for beginners. This features only calculates by round, and unlike the first one, there is no off intervals. This mode is execellent for beginners because when you are starting out, you need to rest more between set, and you can use this mode as you don’t need to key in your off interval, just add more rounds.

3.The Stop Watch function. This is a standard stop watch function. If you are doing any sprinting, or reaction base workout this is a great option for you to choose.

To set up is easy, as you can see here, you just choose your workout time, your rest period, and how many rounds you need to go and your good to go. This is why I like to use this timer all the time because of the user friendliness.

You can also choose the sound of the alert notification. The option is limited, by this kudos to the developer of trying to add variety for this amazing apps.

I have download other apps before, either is too pricey to remove ads, or the user interface is not easy enough to set up. This workout timer apps looks clean and simple to use.

You can get download at apple apps store from your iphones, just type in workout timer and you will be able to see it.

So go ahead and starting working out man!!!
